Season’s Greetings from Sons of the Singularity. As the year draws to a close, we want to extend our sincere thanks to our readers, players, and fellow dreamers of cosmic horror. None of what we do would be possible without your enthusiasm, encouragement, and willingness to journey with us into strange times and stranger places. This year was a milestone for us. Chaosium published our work The Sutra of Pale Leaves, Volumes I and II, and we released the Second Edition of The Sassoon Files. These projects were labors of love, and they were only made possible by the ongoing support of our customers and fans. For that, we are deeply grateful.

As we look ahead, we are excited to share a glimpse of what we have coming next, projects made possible by an extraordinary group of writers and collaborators.
First, we are partnering with several Japanese writers to bring Japanese Call of Cthulhu scenarios to the English-speaking world. This initiative marks a return to the “Sutra-Verse,” with new stories set in 1980s Japan that blend cultural authenticity with the macabre legacy of Robert W. Chambers and The King in Yellow. We are especially honored to be working with Sachiko-san and Nanamine-san of Arkham Studios, whose creativity and insight are helping shape these projects.

Second, we are developing a full-length Call of Cthulhu campaign set in China during the Taiping Rebellion. Think the Wild West meets 19th-century China, infused with cosmic terror. For groups who enjoy a more cinematic experience, the campaign will include optional rules for pulp and wuxia-style play, promising plenty of crouching tigers, hidden dragons, mythos horrors, and yes, six-shooters.

Finally, we are hard at work on Heaven Is Red, a science-fiction horror project inspired by H. P. Lovecraft. Set against the backdrop of China’s colonization of Mars, it explores what happens when earthly ambition collides with cosmic threats. If interest is strong, we plan to follow it with Heaven Is Blue, examining U.S. and corporate efforts to tame the Red Planet from a different, and perhaps equally unsettling, perspective. We are thrilled to have Kim Godwin and Thomas Pugh, both prolific and much-admired TTRPG authors, contributing their talents to this ambitious undertaking. As a small token of our gratitude, everyone receiving this newsletter will receive a coupon for the SOS Appreciation Bundle, delivered by DTRPG, before the end of this month. With our inaugural edition of the newsletter, the bundle includes the digital scenario “Horror in the Hammam,” originally included in The Blessed & the Blasphemous.
From all of us at Sons of the Singularity, thank you for another incredible year. Here’s to the coming year and to the many strange vistas waiting to be discovered.
Warm regards,Jesse Covner, Jason Sheets – Sons of the Singularitysonsofthesingularity.com
