Sassoon Files Pre-Made Character Teaser #2

This blog series is about the pre-made characters that will be included with The Sassoon Files. The Sassoon Files comes with 15 pre-mades of diverse backgrounds and nationalities, but all tied to events and people in the International Settlement and French Concession.

Francois du Luc

As a young man, Francois dreamed of the Orient.  At first, his experience was limited to reading and studying, but as he quickly became an expert on all things Asian, he found sponsorship to travel to Asia. Francois has specialized in Chinese religions, and was involved in several digs looking for old religious texts.  Lately, he has been a bit obsessed with some rather odd texts and hints at some strange offshoot religion.  He plans to publish his work when done, and it has become his life’s passion.  This research has brought him to Shanghai, where bon vivant Victor Sassoon has awarded him patronage.

Tang Baohu

Character Concept: Tang Baohu is from North China and is a friend of Zhang Xueliang, the most powerful warlord of Northern China. Tang Baohu became the “fixer” for his childhood best friend, working against the warlord’s enemies. Both Baohu and his patron are China nationalists, opposed to both the Japanese and Soviets, both of which encroach on the warlord’s territories. Tang Baohu’s jobs were not limited to behind the scenes work; Baohu also flew planes for the warlord’s “Great Wall Airforce.” Baohu and Xueliang are mutual friends with the newspaper man William Henry Donald, who introduced Baohu to Victor Sassoon.
